History of Egloshellens Farm

Egloshellens translated means Church (Eglos) of St Helen. The Parish Church is thought not to be the first church in the village, indicated by the ancient crosses in the churchyard, and by the name of the farm, ‘Egloshellens’, suggesting an earlier church. In the grounds of the farmhouse is an area known as the ‘Bishops Toilet’, further suggesting a link to the Church. In the cobbled courtyard is a well, as deep as the church spire. Surrounded by so much history, fabulous farmhouse with many original features, deserves to be restored to its former glory.

Location

St Stephen is in the Parish of St Stephen-in-Brannel and is a well-regarded village with a good range of facilities. The market town of St. Austell, is about five miles distant and offers further shopping facilities plus leisure centre, library, schools, college, bus and mainline railway station. Approximately 30 minutes drive is the Cathedral City of Truro. .
